When I first read this I thought you were pregnant. Especially when you said to Jammy 'I couldn't of done it without you'
As for all those people that say that want to do it but don't know whether they will make it or not, that's ridiculous. You wont know unless you try. I can understand being nervous for the assessment centre or the interviews but being nervous about applying may suggest that being a copper isnt the ideal career choice. I had a mate that went for PCSO and he passed the fitness so Im sure anyone can. It's so basic I don't even think it should be called a fitness test.
As I understand it, PCSOs can't arrest anyone, but they can detain them until the police arrive. They aren't issued handcuffs or anything either so I'm not entirely sure how they could do so if the youths wanted to get away enough.
Im half thinking about the police for when I get out of the army. I think I would want to specialise though, counter terrorism or something.
I wish you good luck with the medical and future career. Well done.

Just go for it, what have you got to lose?
And, if you need any help you know where I am
I would have put money on that I failed, and I was incredibly nervous on my assessment day, but I worked so hard for it, did a lot of preparation and revision and it all paid off!
i would be scared of not having a job to pay my bills if it didnt work out, unless you can do it in your spare time instead. thanks for offering some advice though im gonna look into it i think.

Well done officer raz
What area you hoping to go into?
A friend of mine has just made it into CID, only been on the job less than 12 months
Oh well done him
I dont know to be honest. I only came out of college a year ago, I had no idea what I wanted to do. Ive always been interested in working in the services, and since my brother has been a PC I had been thinking about it more and more. I decided I would apply for PCSO rather than regulars because a) my force were recruiting for PCSOs long before regulars (still not recruiting til Dec 08 for Police Officers). Also because as I said earlier I only came out of college a little while ago, I had no idea if it would be the job for me, and how much life experience would come into it. Im hoping if I do enjoy it I can apply for regulars after my years probation. You never know I might want to stay as a PCSO. Id LOVE to go into traffic but thats a long long way off yet. My brother has just done his advanced driving for Cheshire Police, it sounds awesome! . To be honest Im keeping my options open, I want to learn, and get experience first, hopefully if this is the career for me then I can progress further and further. Forensics has always interested me too but thats all a bit brainy!
Yea, thats true, if you never try you never know. Just go for it, Its a long ol process anyway! As for all those people that say that want to do it but don't know whether they will make it or not, that's ridiculous. You wont know unless you try. I can understand being nervous for the assessment centre or the interviews but being nervous about applying may suggest that being a copper isnt the ideal career choice. Yea, Im not worried about the fitness to be honest. Its very easy, and my brother assures me Ill be fine. The only thing it, women tend to struggle with the strength side of it, but its all about technique. You get 3 attempts of the fitness .
Thats true, PCSOs do not have to power to arrest like regulars apart from citizens arrest. However I couldnt possibly tell you exactly what I can and cant do because it varies from force to force, some forces PCSO's have more powers than others. They have protective uniform, and airwaves, but no handcuffs etc.As I understand it, PCSOs can't arrest anyone, but they can detain them until the police arrive. They aren't issued handcuffs or anything either so I'm not entirely sure how they could do so if the youths wanted to get away enough.

The PCSO role involves working closely with the community, on the frontline of the Police force, providing a visible and reassuring presence on the streets. I will be tackling anti social behaviour, and intervening to deter people for committing offences. PCSOs are also there to provide support for the regular Police officers, dealing with minor offences and be their link with the community. Its not all about ''arresting people'' or how you are going to arrest them. You are the eyes and ears on the street, providing a link with the community with communication and providing a high level of service. I must say, Im excited cant wait to get out there, and finally have a active job again
Lol! A mini admin (excuse the pun )i thought you was pregnant. Would be good to have more admin about

i know what your saying with me, i couldnt give up a job to attempt to get in, i would need to be assured first to keep the money coming in each month. As for all those people that say that want to do it but don't know whether they will make it or not, that's ridiculous.
