Woodlice like damp conditions, not too wet. Have you got damp walls or something?

As for the beetles. Yes, they could be devils coachmen. I've asked for info on my nature forum.

Well... there is no damp in the house itself, like on the walls, no. It has a damp course... the age of which I do not know.

Although last year, the hallway carpet was ripped up and it was bone dry, there is a "trapdoor" which gets you under the house, only about 3ft deep though, and it's just there to run cables/etc, not as a "cellar". It was quite damp down there, or smelt "foisty" in search of a better word.. but it would be, because the damp course runs just below the floorboards anyway, so it will be damp being below ground level?

So after getting the carpets up we laid laminate flooring and I now believe the woodlice are getting in through the tiny gap where the laminate floor meets the frame of the front door. :) all I can do is control them with powder and one of those plug-in pest repeller things, and kill them when I see them... unless anyone has any better suggestions on how to get rid of them without actually getting under the floorboards? I dont want to take up the laminate flooring as it was fitted properly by someone and I will NOT be able to fit it back that way myself! I found another beetle today too, did you find anymore information on them Carla? Do they feed on woodlice? Do they have nests and how do I control/get rid of them.. ;)

Sorry Chris, couldn't find out much more info about the beetles. Bit of a strange one with the woodlice. Our bedroom is infested with them as it's built into an embankment in the garden. They aren't a problem, the powder kills them and I sweep them up every couple of days.

If these are the same beetles, it's a bit strange they're inside.

Our handyman/pest control guy is coming next week to do some work, I'll have a word with him and see if he can recommend anything.
