Evening. ... morning.

Quick question, the 3 way splitter above the driver front wheel for the braking system, is there ONLY one kind of them. Or did they change over the years?

Everything gone badly and I screwed the thread in mine. Got a spare, not sure if it's the same.

Cheers for any info.

I hope it's not the one on the Elf.

Yes, I believe they changed several times over the years. On early cars they weren't just splitters, they were pressure limiting valves.

Hornet, and yes.

I despise that damn car. Best not mention the hole I had to hack in to get to the brake pipe fittings.

Small update -

Checked on my car, and it's almost a 90degree splitter. The spare I have is a straight one. Going with the two aren't too interchangeable as the old solid pipes are going to be stiff and hard to bend to avoid the ... err ... subframe bit with the cones in it.

Anyone know where I can get a 90degree ish splitter?

Do you mean the FAM valve on the bulkhead thats about 1.5" in diameter? Or do you mean the T-piece that takes the line from the FAM valve, the pipe down to the front offside wheel, and the line around the front of the subframe?

Err .... the second one. It's above the driver side front wheel with the brake pipes and a pressure brake swtch on/in top of it.

Well, the one from my 82 is a straight one.

The Hornet it's at nearly 90degree. So ... ?

Mini spares only seems to have the straight one.

As far as I am aware they were the same across mini the range. There is then a union/take off available seperately to take the switch, so not strictly a 3 way.

Part numbers for everything in that corner for an early cars are:

21A654 2 way
7H7995 Bolt/union
3H550 washer
233220a washer
C16062A switch

If the Hornet is at a different angle, I would say you are going to struggle to get one. Can't see why the one above wouldn't fit though

If it's just a plain brass tee try any of the kitcar parts suppliers like Europa. Would have thought Minispares would have 'em - used on rear subbies on cars with the monster big FAM... valve thingy.

What's up with the old one? Can't you get the thread recut?

Well, I screwed the thread on the steel brake pipe. I'm automaitcal assuming the brass splitter didn't fare well in the situation.

Sorry Adam, I misunderstood your post and thought you were talking about the one on the rear subframe.

Thats alright man, this whole thing getting on my nerves though. Only wanted the change the wheel bearings now I've switched out half the front braking system.

Maybe if I'm lucky my order of a new front brake pipe will be a quick order.

*nudge Simon*
