Im buggered! Mini went in for a rack change today. They have done it, but its cost me £216+vat. Then as the old rack was so worn, i need a new coloum as mine has no splines on it! :(

Im lookin at £260+vat + colum.

i have bout £40, so the olds are bailing me out but going over drawn in doing so! :nugget: Plus i owe em £100 tax too!

So look out for any stuff im sellin on here!

Then learn to fix it yourself! That way you could have bought a recon rack for 40 quid and fitted it in a couple of hours.
PS Instead of the derogatory "olds" how about "wise & lovings"?

The Rack i wont do, as i dont have many tools, or any know how. However if coloum is easy, then i may just get eddie towed home, and have a bash myself or wit my friends dad!

Rack must be one of the worst jobs for minis tho, so u can expect to pay alot!

My mum says she wants to hug me and let eveything be ok! lol bless

I just rele want to kick the wotsit out of something, so i may go find some pallets or something i can smash!

30 mins ade? you mean you dropped your engine and subframe, disconnected the column, and rack, managed to wiggle the new rack in reattatch the column, re-attatch your sub frame, and reconnected your engine bits and bobs in 30 mins!!! i have an engine that needs changing if you have a spare 20 mins lol :cheese:

You only need an 11mm, 13mm and 15mm to change the rack. It realy aint that hard to do, get yourself a Haynes comic.

I changed my rack and all the suspension on one side in the dark in about 3 hours when I had an altercation in Blue.

you mean you dropped your engine and subframe

When I did Jem's I just undid the tower bolts and rear subframe mountings and lowered it down.
