Etch prime the bare metal, then paint it. Hammerite isn't sold as heat proof paint, but it's always done the job for me and not flaked off or anything.

Etch prime the bare metal. Prime the bare metal with etch primer. You get it in aerosol in halfrauds.

He never said etch metal lol

He said Etch prime - Its basically a primer that sticks better to bare metal than normal primer

No theres no need to primer the engine block just paint with hammerite or high temp paint.

There a guide i wrote on engine bay detailing in the FAQ section: http://www.theminifo...showtopic=64891

Might help you out.

Always apply etch primer to bare metal if you're painting over the top, no exception.

That isn't etch primer. Etch primer will be in a tin with etch primer written on it. Aerosol is best. Halfrauds do it as I said, but it m ight not be on the website as it's *******.

and for everything that was in the link from the FAQ's bout cleaning the engine, i dnt need any primer for that im just ok to use the tinned hammerite paint?

The halfords high temp paint i used doesn't require primer - Just make sure the surface is clean/dry and free from any oil and grease.
