can you folks help me ID this motor i what told it was an '85 A+ 1275
12HC01AA 125988

An engine number begining 12H indicates it as being a 1275cc engine.

go here and look for the 'engine types' link.

From what I can see it MAY be an MG Metro engine, but I was at work and couldn't look for too long. Have a look there see if you can find what it is.

Are you sure it's not 12HC10AA? 12HC01AA is not a code I can find anywhere. 12HC10AA is a 9.75:1, pre-unleaded 1275 from the 1986 Metro-van. Slipper pistons, boring cam, boring FD, nothing much to say about it really. A good starting point for a good engine build.
