It is easy to get emotional when anything in life goes wrong. i have been in your shoes, and have refunded money and chalked it up to " can't please everyone everytime" and gotten on with life, resold the item and life goes on. You win some, and lose some. That being said, if they left me negative or nuetral feeback I would tell them to jump in the lake. In the US nuetral feedback is the same as negative feedback in regards to your score, AND you can't leave negative feedback as a seller anymore. You can leave positive feedback with a nasty comment though.

what can you do against people like that gav, your descriptions are fair if not good, shame about these people though, they need a slap.
if the car dies within 24 hours of buying it.
take it back
dump it on thier drive
if they refuse to give you your money back, take them to small claims court.
you cant do anything if its after 24h.

The CAB and OFT both said the rules only apply when buying from a dealer, there's very little for a private sale. The car was roadworthy when it was bought, although it's 36 years old. Perhaps shouldn't have taken it on the motorway straight after buying it.
