Solder a return line onto the tank, or, 't' into the fuel line off the tank, for the return.
Use an external pump mounted on the subframe.
Then ther is no problem

When I did this conversion in my estate I used a metro turbo fuel pump running at 1bar and it worked perfectly well. You can pick them up for about £20 brand new if you look around.
You idealy want to mount the return line as high as possible if your bringing it back to the tank.
EDIT: This is the bloke I got my pump from

Also, if your using the original 2 clock dash you'll need to solder in a diode to stop the alternator backfeeding the ignition circuit, stopping you from turning the car off caused a bit of headscratching when it first happened to me

This is looking up at the N/S of the fuel tank
Sorry for the bad pic, but you get the idea. I did find through use, that the tank could have done with some more baffels in it
