....The different rocker covers didn't conform to any different states of tune, just different colours found in different cars. i.e 2wd sierra, 2wd saff, 4wd saff etc,

Oh?, I always thought that there was a difference, as the redtop units seem to be more in demand?

Dunno to be honest, Im not that well versed in the Ford stuff.

the red top units are more in demand because

a: people like red
b: if memory serves me correct they were in the more mainstream cars, hence there are more of them.

but if it were me i'd have a 4wd engine as they didn't suffer from nearly as much piston slap

Oops ;) I knew whose it was but I was told it was a Cossie (can't remember who said that) and never thought to check. Does he have a project page? I can't seem to find much info about the car and everyone spells his name differently!

Hi everyone, pleased my question got so many replies. Thanks.

Now just to get this right, Ford Cosworth engines came in a few different color styled cam covers, to nominate which particular breed of engine it is, but some of the colors can span a few different models, gets a bit complex but a basic breakdown would be, deep intake of breath.
RED TOP
Sierra RS Cosworth (204bhp). YBB
Sierra RS 500 Cosworth (224bhp). YBD
Sierra Saphire R/Wheel drive (204bhp). YBB (same lump as first on list just diff body, hence same YBB)
Sierra Saphire 4x4 No Cat (224bhp). YBJ

GREEN TOP
Sierra Saphire 4x4 Cat (224bhp) YBG

BLUE TOP
Escort Big Turbo (227bhp) YBT

SILVER TOP
Escort `Lil Turbo (227bhp) YBP

Mines a Sierra Saphire 4x4 Cosworth Turbo No Cat (320bhp, played with it  Red Top YBJ.

There. I bet youve never heard so much Ford stuff on this site before. I apologize, please forgive.

Rhyd- kinda like that, but I think that `uns a 24V V6 Cossy (Cologne). But cheers anyway I was watching that vid the night before.
Mini kel- If you could find photos or any other info that would be ace.

But I take it from replies so far that this is potentially new territory.

Well, like I said thanks to all who`ve answered, I`ll keep checking back to see if anyone else can come up with ideas or info.
Regards
Scoob.

Me again.
I dont suppose that any one from my local area (Hilltop Minis) has a `sporty` Min` that I could come and have a poke about at, passenger ride in. Because I must admit the idea of my engine in a Mini is quite scary/overkill, with emphasis on the word `kill`.
I`d like the chance to be shown the error of my ways. Just a thought.
Scoob.
