hey everyone, i have recently been given a mini ritz, its only done 25000 miles, didn't have to pay a penny , if u don't know its a 998cc 1985 silver limeted edition mini.

any way, so far, i've taken the engine out, repainted it, stripped the engine, all new parts, gaskets and seals, and rebuilt it, now it runs really sweet :D

i have also replaced the rear sub frame, brand new rear subframe with radious arms and rear drums, - from stonleigh (easter) all for £40 :gasp: what a bargain.

new chrome grill, spotlights (not put the spots on yet tho, i will do)

its already got some alloys on it but standard ritz 12" so i want some of those deepdish superlites and the wheel arch kit.

ugh, not sure if i get how to do this, but if the pics don't work which knowing me they won't i'll paste a link at the bottom so u can have a look

Ah the Ritz, my first paid for mini... fond memories of that model.... looks like its in fairly original condition, so I'd be keeping it that way... especially as you have the original alloys...

Snazzy seats!!

I really think people should leave minis standard when they're in that good a condition!

(but i don't think i could leave it like that myself! If i got me a 1960's cooper s I'd probably put a zeemax and neons on it!! :D )

Yeah really nice car mate! How'd you manage to get it for free? :fear:

My ritz was called "Slippery Jim", comes from the Harry Harrison, Stainless Steel Rat books...

**edit** as far as I'm aware it's still out and about C678AVF if anyone knows it

yea theres only a tiny bit of body work rust but once i clean that up, it shall be fine, the floors are solid, its been sitting in a garage all its life nearly, i think i'm gonna keep it standard, except the wheels i want some nicer wheels, but i shall hang on to the ritz wheels as they are part of the car,

Belt sander (like one of the little ones) is good at removing rust on good metal!

Bit easier to use than an angle grinder if you not actually cutting out rusty bits! :w00t:
