How have people fitted bucket seats? I'm going to be fitting one of my Cobra seats in the Clubby at the weekend with a Cobra subframe and was wondering how people who have gone before me have done it?
I spose it will either be on the crossmember or behind it, but I think if its behind it, I'll be sitting too low down and too far back from the pedals, but will check tonight. If this is the case, has anyone just fixed theirs to the crossmember?
Bucket seat fixings.....

If you get the correct subframes they mount over the crossmember so the middle of the seat is more or less on top of the crossmember. With the seat subframe going lower onto the existing mounts.
What do the cobra subframes look like??
You could always take my approach and just remove the crossmember completely and bolt the slide assy directly to the floor

Hmmm not sure you'll be able to use them without removing the crossmember......

or go the other way, and weld in a second crossmember a bit further back, and mount the seat flat on to it, this also had the benefit of adding considerable extra strength to the car.

Hi,
Or failing that... Get a piece of steel box section the same height as the cross member and bolt to seat brackets and floorpan.
Cheers,
Gavin.

Nah, they are proper subframes, racers use them because they are lighter, and racers don't need all the adjustment of the normal subframes.
