I agree to an extent! bigger on Mini's isn't better. like rear disco conversion total waist if time!. but dont be silly & run on drums LOL. I have 4 pots grooved vented disc's all stainless piped & split tandem setup with internal bias valve! just spacerd drums & good shoes! stops me just right! doing a tonne :(

I'm running 8.4" grooved / vented with 4 pot KADs, on 10" Force Racing wheels

The way I look at it, the Bike powred Mini's weigh 200lbs less than an A-Series Mini, but this 200lbs is only 15% of the weight of the car - less once there are passengers on board.

With all that HP from a bike engine (double or more than a std Cooper S), and the potential speed they can develop, along with the fact that Mini racers are always trying to get more brakes on their Minis, I don't think you can go too big - I know I wouldn't want my brakes to go away on me in a car this small with all the US SUVs running amock on the roads on this side of the pond...

Cheers,

Aric

if you're talking 7" Cooper discs - stay away - I wouldn't trust them with 60BHP, let alone 160...

Yes I was talking 7'' mini cooper brakes because I whant to set yamaha r1 engine but I whant to keep 10'' wheel on my mini!
When we talk abouth it is it ok to keep 10'' wheel (due grip) on yamaha engined mini or is it bether to set 12'' wheel on yamaha engined mini??

Thanks!!!!!

I decided to stay on 10s myself, and the Pro-Mo guys seem to prefer them too - if you don't mind arches, you can go up to 8.4" vented on 10s (Force Racing 10" X 6") as I did on mine - you have to be a bit particular about the wheel selection (backspacing, rim thickness, etc.) but it can be done.

if you don't want arches, and want to stay on 10s, run Cooper S 7.5" discs with the proper wheels - they are WAY better than the Cooper 7"s...I think I'll get unanimous agreement on the forum member on that one.

12s would probably give you a bit more traction under accelration with the right rubber, but they weigh so much more - seems contradictory to the goal...I say "small wheels, big brakes!"

Cheers,

Aric

I have 7.5 cooper s discs which are drilled.
I then bought mini sport 7.5 cooper 's' 4 pot alloy calipers fitted with mintex fast road pads
its servo assisted as per any post 86 mini
braided hoses all round and super minifins on the back.
Im running 4.5x10 minilights so have no arches.

So far I have had no problems at all on any of the track days I have done in the car.
