they all have the facility to. I have a GPS Receiver for my XDA2, and using third-party software also calculates my accell, 0-60 (mmm Kevish), Avg/Max speed. and a few other things.

Oh and the reason for getting one is because my speedo doesn't want to play!

Is it legal to swap over the speedo for GPS? Won't there be a problem with it recording the mileage correctly as well?!

if your speedo is inaccurate then just leave it iin for the MOT.

i doubt you will get a GPS system for £100, as my bluetooth GPS was £50 itself off ebay (NEW)

I would recommend doing what i have done and fit a bike speedo to your wheel. Mines going to be mounted on a bracket on the roof lining or steering wheel.

Only cost £12 and its wireless too :w00t:

You don't need a speedo for MOT, its not illegal not to have a speedo just illegal to speed! However mileage is a problem, i can just conect the speedo up even though it is miles out we are talking about 20-25% slow so then the milage will go up 20-25% slower as well mmmm.
Need to get it sorted properly don't i really.

Yea, buy I mearly pointing out that if you ever sell your car, or you have a limited mileage insurance policy, your mileage won't be as high as it should! WHICH IS A BAD AND NAGHTY THING! :cheese:

i've got a digital bike speedo fitted to mine, the speedo don't even have a cable on as i got *Drunk or yellow human water* off with it snapping.

Only did it as an experiment and it works great, cost me £3 from halfrauds, i'm gonna fit a better backlit one with bigger display when i get round to it. I taped a magnet to the pot joint on the driveshaft and made a suitable bracket for the pickup and mounted it to the gerabox.

When you calibrate the bike speedo, I'm guessing your measurement has to be spot on, or I'm guessing the margin of error will be quite will be quite large, especially at high speeds!

when i calculated mine i drove it and worked it out from the rpm how fast i was going, its pretty much spot on.

Some guy was following us to buxton a few weeks back and when we got there he said he clocked us at 92 on the dual carriageway (going uphill), funnily enough it ran out of puff at 93 according to my speedo so it aint far off.

When i first calibrated my bike speedo i got it a bit wrong (converting from KM to miles) and saw my max top end of 203 mph!
to get the wheel size more accuratly i rolled it 10 times measured and divided by 10 and now it shows about the same speed as my GPS (you have to do a very steady speed to get an accurate speed with GPS)
my GPS is a Magellan kit that fits to my Palm V, cost me £120 all in , it also doubles up as a rather niffty bike computor (backlit) try a search on "Bikini bike computer" or "bikini palm v"

in answer to the first question, pretty much all GPS navigation systems (like navman/tom tom/medion) all show the speed at which your travelling

GPS based radar detectors do mostly also display your GPS speed, like the road angel 2 and the snooper S4 neo, however the law does not yet regard GPS as a bona fide way of telling your speed but i believe its being looked into

Good luck with the Wireless system. They have a maximum range of 1.5 feet I think. :nugget:

Is it a halfords one, if so, I couldnt even get it to work on my Moped.
