basicaly

handbrake hasnt been great and after jacking up rear end today i found out why

one wheel locks tight with handbrake on but the other is as free as when the handbrake is off

now i had sum1 pull and release the lever whilst i looked and yes it does take effect on the brakes
i have tried using the brake adjuster as was the only thing i cud think of trying an turns out was as tight as cud get neway

anyone have any sujestions as i dnt see why one wheel could be so different to the other

check that both sides have OK shoes and drums... on side could be worn more..... best thing to do is to get it jacked up and take the drums off.

If you can see the cable is pulling on the lever sticking out of the back plate it could be the lever itself is seized at the riveted pivot. It's amazing how even slight mismatches between the linkage to either wheel can make the handbrake only work properly on one side, give the whole cable a tweak 'n a grease.

the quadrents could be scized, bit that takes the cable from the centre of the subby angles along the radious arm

Just brain storming, are both the adjusting sliders in place, one hasn't been lost at some time, so that only one of the brake shoes is actually getting adjusted.

Item 10 is the bit I mean, should be two , one either side of the adjuster peg, also worth checking not been put in wrong way round.

One other thing are the shoes the right way round, the locating holes for the handbrake mechanism are different
