I'm with MiniDick on the microfibre polishing cloths. They do a great job if you get the right ones. I've had good and bad microfibre cloths. So far, Meguirs are my favourite ones.

In my books a proper job comprises: Wash, Clay Bar, Wash, Paint Cleaner, Polish then Wax.

Currently, I'm using Meguirs Soft Wash, Meguirs Clay Bar, Meguirs Pain Cleaner, Mothers Polish & Swissol Shield (Canuaba Wax) and I'm very pleased with the results.

It takes me eight hours to get a car done. Interestingly, I've found the size of a car makes absolutely no difference to how long the job takes. Initially I thought it would, but it didn't. :dontgetit: The Mini takes just me just as long to do as my 5m long Citroen! :dontgetit:

i've found that old work shirts, (white ones) work very well in the rubbing off of wax.

I used my free autoglym bottle from the L2B yesterday, ordinary stockinette (white one from Southern Mini Days) to wax on. Different stockinette to wax off and the shirt for final buff up. Quite a nice shine.

Tend to go for Meguiar's products as they are a reasonable price and give a good finish.
They do a stage 1,2 and 3 - paint restore, polish, carnauba wax which seems to work well.

Using a polish and separate wax does work and gives a good "wet look" finish. It just takes a bit longer..!

Do a panel at a time and apply and take off using any old towels..!!
Far cheaper than "microfibre" cloths and easy too...

Hi,

I use "Mothers" Carnauba Wax, from America. Its easy to put on, but quite hard to polish off. It says on the tin to apply and remove one pannel at a time.

This leaves a really good deep shine that lasts for ages and doesn't come off in the rain.

I always use mer, it's damn expensive but it's easy on the arm and does leave a lovely shine
