I am still going but I just can't stay all day.
Catch up with you all then.

Well if the clutch holds on as I have a worrying patch of fluid that has appeared on the mat!!
That is my leastest favourite min job!! So I will keep topping up until I pull the engine out after this show and the master cylinders will have to come off for a bulkhead tidy up and new engine.

What I learnt:
A new master cylinder's a hell of a lot easier than a rebuild kit
It's a lot easier with the steering column removed
It's a lot easier with the heater off to one side
Use the longest long nose pliers you can find, 2 pairs
Replace the split pin with a snap pin ("R" pin)

What I did:
Took it out with the steering column still in but heater to one side, rebuilt, put back in, put a new split pin in
Didn't work
Removed the steering column, heater to one side, took it out, rebuilt again, put back in, put a new split pin in
Drove home
Went to go shopping the next day, foot went straight to the floor
Removed the steering column, heater to one side, removed old cylinder, installed new cylinder, put a new split pin in because I didn't have any snap pins

I'm not sure of the clevis pin dimensions (the bit the split pin goes into), but the standard split pin is apparently 5/64 x 1.5".

Edit: Took a while posting, just seen the OT post, soz. Erm, free bump?
