I've not had any trouble with flashing tape coming loose but ymmv. When you apply it make sure the surface is completely clean of dust and oils and heat the tape a little - should stick like sh*t on a blanket then.

:D

thanks for all the advice - all valuable stuff; I guess I will be melting my brain with white spirits at the weekend (seriously, kids remember any petroleum based distillate can seriously ruin your health)

Just as an update I really like the 'flooring-to-go' rubber mat but they want £45 delivery! Maybe a local carpet stockist could get it for you, but for me its made that source untenable

I am investigating a similar product at http://www.floormats...-transport-mats which comes in several thickness so I have asked for some dB reduction info. If they have it I will report back, looks very similar though and I think it will do the job

lol thanks for the offer - I am definitely NOT in Kent :-)

The second choice rubber mat http://www.floormats...-transport-mats have no dB reduction info, but looking at the density of the material I think it is worth a punt - I will report back in a few weeks; I might even do a before and after measurement with my dB meter

Does all this sound proofing add on alot of weight? I'm going to sound proof mine a bit but it looks like when you do the whole car is adds loads of weight!

It can if you do it to the level I've gone for, but mine is extreme and done for a reason (competition level).

But if you use the lighter stuff like Dynamat superlite or the 2mm silent coat and don't cover every inch of every panel it won't add more than half a tank of fuel would.

I think my build thread starts by saying its built to EMMA standard.

I've competed before with my S2000, did quite well finished the season 3rd in my Class in the UK.

Well your gear does seem to be far far inferior. I think you need to get down Halfords if I'm honest!

But seriously, 3rd is pretty damn good bro. You're insane  ;D
