After the problems of the last week, this is the third time of posting my topic. Luckily I saved a draft of it so I only need to copy and paste into here....

I Started this last week, but we all know what happened yesterday to the forum....so here we go again, as I have actual news! (Not good but we will come to that later)

I brought this Clubby last year and used it briefly as a run around. There weren't any real issues with its as the previously owner (an ex-British Rail welder) had already done alot of work on it.

What was left to do was both doors, driver side flitch panel and numerous minor repairs.

Not sure what you would call this colour...we liken it to a bad night on the curry!

When I first got into the car and drove at away from the seller, i almost crash at the first junction I came to. Its been years since i have driven a car with such poor brakes (15 years since my last mini), and I almost stacked it into the rear of another car at a roundabout.

So the first thing i did was a Cooper 's' brake conversion, I used Minisport to do this. In hindsight I may have gone with a different company as there customer services and grievance procedure left alot to be desired. But the brakes were the colour I wanted in the long run..

I had issues with the spacer betwen the two bearings being the wrong size, so when I torque the nut up there was still lots of play in the hub and disc. In the end after numerous phone calls and being told 'you just need to shave a small amount of the spacer'....which is correct, but not something I should have had to do when buying a kit!! They sent me the correct size spacers and everything was fine, except I try not to buy anything from them, unless I can't find it somewhere else (which is rare)

Over the festive period I stripped the car down to just the drivers seat and windscreen.

And took I to the a local car restorer to get the few repairs that were needed done, and for a complete respray....A very cold drive in JanuaryI can tell you!

Now I was going to do the work myself, but then I remembered that I can't weld or spray. I also work away from home, and didn't want to get halfway through a job and have to stop......so i bit the finanical bullet and opted for the professional. Plus the guy restores E types and Racing CSLs, so i have a litte drool everytime I visit.

Pictures of the day it left..

This is were we found all the minor rust problems, bottom corners of both rear panels, both head light mounts, subframe to front panel mounts and the A panels were fitted badly so they got removed and replaced!

The Repairs..

Not the best repair, but plenty of seam sealant, underseal and stone chip have been applied. We didn't want to removed the wing as replacements are almost £100!

So all repairs are finished, and its time to decide on a colour scheme...as we have already seen the brakes are Green. So the subframe and suspension also go green.

Body colour....Black! But not any black, black like the deepest darkest night!!

I also purchase some w&p arches to go with the car and some rover style wing mirrors, all of which are piant black.

Primered..

So thats me pretty much up until Wednesday....

So car is assembled, bar engine and front hubs. I am getting the engine and gearbox checked out cleaned and painted. I wasn't going to put a grubby engine in a shiny bay??

Everything is in good order, but while it is out it will have

-Clutch
-bearings (all around)
-piston rings
-oil and water pump
-Valve seals
-electonic dizzy

and probably some other bits and bobs

It was going to have a 12g295 head and HIF38....
