I got rid of the narrow drums with spacers and put a set of proper spacered drums on today. I also painted the dampers and refitted them.
The laborious process of wet sanding has also began, it sucks now but it will be worth it when it's all shinny.

Thanks guys, sadly I might have to let this one go as I've found something else locally that I'd really like.
I should be going to look at it tomorrow so watch this space.....

Is it going 'as is' or are you going to finish it first.
so come on then, what you found now?

I'm going to finish it off as I've come too far to stop now, plus if nothing else it should get me more money for the next project.
I don't want to say what the next one I'm looking at is exactly but it is A-series powered. ![]()
I've got some time off so started machine polishing the body today. It's a pain in the arse to do but definitely worth the time and arm strain.
I actually got it polished a lot faster than I was expecting so I also fitted the steering rack, subframe and engine.

Good progress! Look gorgeous. What machine do you have?

Thanks Ross, I really enjoy this stage of a build. The polisher is an older version of this Sealey one with 150MM 3M polishing pads. Clicky
The clutch slave had been rebuilt recently so I cleaned it up and painted it in steel silver. Also got bonus race points with the braided hose. ![]()
I made some shinny kunifer brake lines to match the shinny master cylinders.
Nice RC40 to go on.
The Cooper freeflo had a bit of surface rust on it so I sanded it down and painted it in satin black VHT.
The engine bay's looking much more complete now. ![]()

It is a really good machine, bit heavy but you soon get used to it and loads of power when you need it.

Just a couple more bits done this evening.
The black card parcel shelf was looking pretty tired so I've recovered it in acoustic carpet. I did the rear arches as well but couldn't get a good picture.
I've also covered the top dash rail and A-pillars in vinyl that matched the lower rail and added a pair of new air vent escutcheons to tidy the edges.

Looking fantastic, keep it up!
Any updates on secret project?

I'm still waiting on news about the secret project. I'm supposed to be hearing by the end of the month.
I'm 99% done now, I just need to bleed the brakes and fill it with oil.
I found a matching 90's Cooper rear seat to go with the Cooper fronts that came in the car which was nice.
The dash turned out really nicely. I ended up fitting a new pair of Mini Spares dash cards which have really lifted it when combined with the covered top rail.
It's a nightmare to take a picture of but I lined the boot with acoustic carpet and made a boot board for it. It's by far the cleanest treatment for a Mini boot in my opinion.
The engine bay's looking tidy as well.

This is perfect, and I seem to be commenting a lot haha. You've also done this far too quickly!
How do you find the minispares dash cards? I attempted to make my own but soon gave up, thinking about buying some now.
