The passenger side sill is now all welded up, linished down and zinced ready for schultz.

IMG_7054_zps0ec0826f.jpg

I had to make a repair section for the end of the passenger scuttle end that required a bit of shrinking and stretching. Oddly the closing panel underneath was mint.

The inner wing is also welded up and zinced.

IMG_7070_zps25700b3f.jpg

It took me a little while to get the wing lined up nicely but it's on now.

Good parallel bonnet gap.

IMG_7108_zps73918e3c.jpg

Nice tight scuttle gap.  :P

IMG_7110_zps8235b263.jpg

The door gaps are nice and consistent as well, which is all ways a relief.

I was a bit suspicious of the soft edges on the drivers step sill. Turns out it was full of filler!

Looking great there.

shame about that filler in the step but there you go. At least it was found and is being sorted properly!

Nice one

You're quite right, it would suck to paint it and then have it all fall out latter.

Having a proper sheet metal folder has it's advantages especially when it comes to make new step sill sections.

IMG_7132_zps0a515fd9.jpg

IMG_7144_zps74034055.jpg

The O/S A panel lip had rusted away in places so I replaced the whole section with nice new panel.

IMG_7141_zpsbddce032.jpg

The new step section's looking nice now it's all ground down and zinced.

IMG_7206_zps03caf886.jpg

For an unknown reason someone had decided to coat the O/S inner wing in underseal in the past.

IMG_7254_zps83f2ce29.jpg

It looked awful so I attacked it with a wire wheel and took the panel down to bare metal. I also welded a few dodgy looking holes.

IMG_7265_zpsc0604e4a.jpg

The engine bay was quite crusty so I took the wire wheel and DA to it as well and got ride of all the flakey edges.

IMG_7267_zpse41f670a.jpg

I've also been attacking the body with the DA and now have the whole body sanded and all the bare metal areas sprayed with etch primer.

I've got the 1275GT, a 106 GTI, 4 205 GTIs, a 406 Coupe and a Citroen Synergie. I've run out of room now though  :(

On a related note, if anyone has an 8 car garage going spare in the Chichester let me know  :D

I was offered a Series 1 last week, no room at the moment sadly.  :mmkay:

I seam sealed the joints in the front end today and started getting some 2k high build onto the body but I ran out.  >_<

Seen as I can't get any primer until later in the week I degreased the engine, wire wheeled it down and masked up all the machined faces.

IMG_7292_zps452e2e68.jpg

It then received a few generous coats of MOWOG green and I stated bolting a few of the ancillaries back on including a new water pump and shinny new core plugs.

I didn't touch this at all last week as I had the week off but I'm back on it now and covered in filler dust.

The body is nice and straight now and just need and little bit of detail work before it gets another few coats of high build.

IMG_7461_zps37d07cf5.jpg

IMG_7458_zps1ab131f7.jpg

The engine is mostly back together as well now, just waiting for a shinny engine bay to live in.
