Hi all, You'll have to forgive me as I've not been on in years.

I sold my last restoration, moved away from the scene and I'm pleased no announce my mini revival. Its a Mini Cabriolet! bit of fun and pretty good condition. I shall get more pics but this was her last summer :)

So today was really day 1 of getting stuck in. Gutted from top to bottom minus engine and running gear. That'll be tomorrows job.

Im hoping come end of play tomorrow to have just a shell, ideal on its side really for a good belly rub with a grinder  :shifty:

By the way can anyone in the know possibly shed some light on some of the history of the cabrio? Im under the impression this may be an import but really not sure.

its on a B plate but registered in '88 or something and it also has a lower foglight. (import???)

Deperately trying to identify the original colour too. If its yellow thats the colour she shall be :)

What makes you think that?

I have seen a few soft tops, some don't have the roll bar and standard doors, a few others do. Like i say I'm no expert on the matter so if anyone is I'm all ears.

Cheers

Could you possibly put up a couple of pictures of the c pillar either side of the parcel shelf and some closer ones of the roll bar.

Oh and one of where the steel roof ends looking down the cant rails from the back.

Cheers

Ben

I took a few today of the soft top and lining for when i come to replace so there may be a suitable picture there but that car itself is stored on the farm.

I did just do a search and found an almost identical one.....

Definitely an aftermarket conversion. There weren't any standard convertibles produced until about 91 I think.

Hi Gareth,

Welcome back to the mini Scene, looks like a good shell rust wise, aslong as the oversills haven't been fitted it looks like you're onto a winner! ;)

Theres a paint code section on here (I've linked it below) which is worth a look through to find the correct paint, no doubt it'll be in there :)

The Yellow colours are about 1/3rd the way down the first page.

Chers,

Cliff

Thats a great help thanks Cliff!

As for the oversells, it does all look to be in great shape,I had a good poke ad prod this morning and touch wood its spot on. Ive no doubts front a read subbies off tomorrow will endeavour to tell all.

Looks like Keiths Coversions are long down the pan so might hav to make my own lining. The roof itself is in immaculate condition just a shame I've had to peek back that top lining to remedy the rust in the gutter!

Thanks again for the help peeps, really appreciate it.
