Well i think its a combination of both. Plenty of rust. These pictures make it look showroom fresh!! The lad who owns it has had it standing where it is for 2 years. he said "upon trying to do minimal repairs he found bodges left right and centre".

However after all this is didn't tell you all the price...... Its free!? But needs about £900 worth of panels haha

For free then, it is defiantly worth a go

It's worth more than that in bits  ;D

So today, despite the wind, I managed to get 7 coats of Snapdragon yellow laid down on the mini. Bonnet, boot and the shell done :)

I have to flat off my doors probably one evening this week and they will get a coating too. While doing that, ill have to touch up a little mishap on the rear quarter but nothing major.

Today was a good Marale day!!

First coat.....

Generally pretty happy with the finish. It has a small amount of orange peel but from what i can gather that fairly common for a first time spray job.

How long would be recommended until cutting and compounding can happen?? Im dying to start it now but i want to be 100% sure the paint has dried.

Paint is looking good now, and it has inspired me to paint my next project myself after getting messed about by two different painters on the last one I did. I have thought about a cheap gazebo and it obviously works. Keep up the good work.

Slidehammer what stage is your project at??

Today was a long day but today made all the graft worth while. So the mini has been ticking over in a warm gazebo for a couple of days and today was coloursand, compound and wax. Wow!! Ill let the results speak for themselves......

Started getting her booty back too, minus the seams...

Tomorrow ill be working on the Bonnet, and goths doors. They are due for the same treatment as per today and hopefully ill have them hung and all anvils replaced.

On a side note, can anybody clarify which arches these are please.....

One final bit, what are views on the seats?? The colour is a long way off but the seats are in awesome condition etc. How much does anyone think i might be able to get if i sold them?? I have just the front pair.

You asked about my project I have nearly finished the engine refresh just waiting for the unleaded head conversion back. I started with mechanical bits as I could work on this in the garage. I now plan to start cutting out the floors and sills to get the shell more sound. Keep up the top work.

Bit more progress yesterday. Managed to fit the roof, drivers door and bonnet. Really starting to take shape now.

IMG_2016_2.jpg

With black bumper fitted. I was going to change to chrome but the old ones cleaned and waxed nicely. Black and yellow is now definitely the theme :)
