anyone know the best way to keep an engine stored for the winter? fill up with oil ? turn it over once in a while ? 

 

 

suggestions encouraged

I would fluid her up with some nice oil bud and tuck it away inside some where warm. And turn it over once in a while by hand. There are a few schools of thought about the bores though, and weather you should drop a spot of oil down them, iv heard of people putting wd40 down them too, i personally always used a tiny spot of oil, leave the spark plugs out as will turn over easier.

Free tip: not everyone in the house is as pleased to see your engine in the lounge as you might be ?

thanks for advice bud, I have already torqued up the head. would you recommend anything down spark plug holes ? will bores be ok without anything ?

How long you intending to store it? I've got a bare mpi engine in the garage that has sat for 3 years and the bores are fine ? don't over think it mate.

Just oil in the bores and leave it alone. As I said, don't over think it.
