Hello,

Stumbled today on this topic and thought why not, I haven't posted in TMF for a long time.

I drive 1975 "slifgtly" modified Mini with 1000 engine. When I say drive, I mean use it on summertime once-twice a month. For now it's having its winter holiday already.

I bought my Mini from UK in 2009 as a rolling projet and since had put it back on road, repainted it, visited 2011 IMM in Switzerland (more than 5000 km road-trip), changed engine, etc, etc - you know, usual Mini stuff :-)

Here are couple photos of my Mini:

I just bought a 1988 Austin Mini Mayfair for my first car. I'm still 16 so have a year to do what I want to it. It has a stage 1 RC40 exhaust system but other than that it's standard. The colour definitely isn't though.
This is what it looks like now. Don't know what to do to it yet!

Hi, I bought 'Monty' about 18 months ago. Looked really solid (don't they all!) but not the prettiest with a brushed paint job. Rebuilt carb and electronic ignition later, plus a couple of fuel leaks and mechanically OK. It's a 1989 998 with a stage 1 kit, centre exit twin exhaust, so sounds quite good.
So, I decided to get it resprayed. A local body shop said they'd do a self prep for £500, not bad really. Armed with a DA sander, I prepped it and off it went. Then the phone rang, 'advising' me to come and have a look. It's a wonder it ever moved with the amount of filler! So, front panel, wings, A panels, scuttle, door closures, boot floor, rear panel, the list went on and on. 3 weeks just cutting out rotten metal, then it could be sprayed. £6000 later and all done! At least I know it's solid now. I've done it in Vauxhall metallic grey and put a carbon fibre wrap on the roof. I like it, fairly understated but nice and shiny! I'm guessing my story will be quite a familiar one!

Hi, i recently purchased a mini sprite for my son and would like to find more information on it if anyone can help?  It is an N reg and i wondered how many were made and how many are still on the road? This one is a bit special as it has been locked away in a garage since 1999 and has only covered 3800 miles and is totally original. We are in the process of recommissioning it and want to leave it as standard as possible with a few subtle mods.

Mini Cooper Sport 2001 1275 MPI - Daily car, induction kit and strait through fletcher exhaust and manifold, last on rolling road at 70Bhp :D

Also got a Mk1 lookalike project undergoing long term works, intention of using as a track car of some sorts EVENTUALLY, possibly 1275 heavily tuned or R1 FWD conversion.... long time to go yet before deciding :P

Hi all,

Not new to Minis having owned one since 1987. it been of the road though for 14 years and I have only just re-commissioned the car for an MOT.  Anyway I have joined the forum so I could thank you all for all the helpful information I have found on this site, it really has been a extremely useful particulary with the clutch which has been a real pain!!? So keep up the good work.

So why did I keep the car for so long? Well it is a 1971 Wood and Picket 1275 Clubman GT which I spent many a long day and nights trying to sort it out in the mid 90s, which I did and then run it as a hobby car until about 2000. At the time I couldn't part with it, so from 2000 it remained in my garage until now.

It has yet to pass it MOT, so expecting a bit more  fun! but I think it is about ready. Bit worried about emmisons though!

Will keep you posted

We, that is my son George and myself, have a lovely Mini Equinox, which we have for nearly a year now.  It was in a very sad state when we got it, but we have refurbished the wheels, and put new adjustable suspension on it.  We have also got the 'usual' necessary welding done (which we could not do ourselves).  It has the original door cards and seats which are not in too bad condition.

Unfortunately the work has come to a halt, as George (the mechanic in the family) is not at College from 9am to 5pm, and working at weekends... so very little work is being done! :(
