Maybe an oddity here.  After a youth many many years ago spent driving around in Clubmans and 1275GTs I discovered Harold Dermott's Midas kitcar.  It was love at first sight.  This led me down the path of scavenging engines and heads from scrapyard 1300GTs.  Little known at the time that these were the same heads as the Mk3 1275 Cooper S.  My latest Midas has now been standing for many years unused.  I wrote off the first thanks to a bad weather accident, one of only 3 people to have done so at the time.  It now needs a complete body shell restoration having the worst case of ultra violet attack I have ever seen.  It has an original Cooper S 1293 bored block with sports pistons, road rally camshaft, 2.95 diff, everything lightened and fully balanced, with a Stage 2 940 casting head.  That engine has stood unused for over 10 years so it will need a complete rebuild and may not even be serviceable.  Not built for outright top speed but the handling... :whistling:

Just bought my 6th Mini. All the others have been Binis and I’ve kept number 5 for getting to work. Now I’ve got my first classic mini , a 1997 Mini Cooper. Would have loved a clubman from the 70s but budget wouldn’t allow ☹️

Not seen this thread, my pretty much bog standard (and will stay that way) 2000 MPI Bristish Racing Green Cooper Sport. Daily driven for 2.5 years now and still love it!

Done about 13k miles so far and plan to do a lot more.
