hi all,

i brought a shelf that sits under the dash today at malvern,

it went it really easy and doesnt get in the way of the passengers feet at all, well chuffed, especially for £5!

anyway, i think this shelf thing was fitted as standard to the mini special but i cant find any evidance as such. i was wondering what models this was fitted to as standard and does anyone else have on in thier car?

and sorry for the bad pics, taken on my phone as it started to get dark

ive never seen one in the flesh before but i remeber a guy on here AGES ago selling what he called an under dash shelf from a 1100 special.

i guess thats why i think its from a special but the guy could have just beep talking rubbish.

im pretty sure it is a mini part because it fits really well and the bulge you can see in the pic allows room for the demister pipe.

just thought id put a post up because i would really like to know what cars it would have come from

I saw one on eBay a little while ago and meant to bid on it but missed it! :genius:

Should see if we could get one of the fibreglass guys to make some up for the rest of us! ;)

ill tell you when your older jon, hahaha, nah its just luck.

about making a fiberglass copy, i was thinking that too!!! but i got a few questions

who are 'the fiberglass guys'?
who do i need to talk to?
im guessing ill have to send mine away to have a mould taken? but would i get it back as it is? i dont want it broken!
how long does it take
would anyone actually want a fiberglass copy?

if anyone of you 'fiberglass guys' can answer my questions or would like to try and copy it, it would be cool. id like to see a copy of this about.

Yes it's from an 1100 Special, that was the only UK model it was fitted to. I don't know if they were used on other models overseas. Actually I dont know if there was a LHD version for LHD 1100 Specials either.

Try talking to The Stig, Body Stylist or Arc Angels (sorry if I've forgotten anyone!). They do fibreglass stuff and are all members of the forum.

I wouldn't mind paying for one of those and judging by this topic I'm not the only one. We'd all appreciate if you could lend your lovely shelf to someone willing to take a mould for us >_<

It would be nice to have a small lip on the front to stop stuff rolling out too...
