Bingo!!! :gimme:

Thanks to Dan, I now have some ...

10 x 6 COSMICS

Posted Image

And some brand new Yoko A008's!! :dontgetit:

Posted Image

(Behind the plastic sheet, there is another 10x6 cosmic - But just the one, lol - I managed to pick up a single one at malvern, 2 years ago :P)

I'm SO, So, So chuffed! :ermm:

Some of you might remember my little old Charlie Brown, who met an unfortunate end, as he was shunted by a White Convertable Escort!

But he had these, rare, 6J Cosmics & I battled for ages with my insurance company to let me keep the car and especially his wheels.

Unfortunately, I lost on both counts and so Charlie went to the crusher

So, since August 2007, I've been looking for a set of these and I'm so, so happy I've found them! Thank you so much, Dan! ;)

(Greasy - We had to use a Van, because we don't have any other car anymore, other than a Mini! The Golf's MOT has run out, due to it just not being used - And it's up for sale, lol :mrcool:)

So, yeah! ;)

to be honest - I'm not sure what car they're going on yet, but it'll probably be the van, rather than Reggie - I like Reggie's superlites :)

Well, he definitely needs new driveshaft output seals ... all of the fresh oil that we've just put in him is now sitting in a puddle on the drive! (AGAIN)

Argh! :mrcool:

See it was a trick because I was of course going to say wheels first but thought you didn't need a van for them :mrcool: ;)

They look great :dontgetit:

Nope - Reggie still won't be going anywhere. >:mrcool:

He's not getting any gears at all :dontgetit:

So - new engine, new box, new diff, new clutch, new clutch release bearing, plenty of clutch fluid, no leaks, clutch is bled ...

Hmm.

Are you trying while the front wheels are in the air? It can give problems selecting them if they are, shifty had that problem.

Well ... Engine out, methinks! :P

His insurance has just run out, too :D So he's somewhat stuck on my parents driveway, surrounded by about 7 litres of oil spillage, lol! :)

have a look under the car when somebody is moving the gear stick... check all the linkages are tight and working properly... i had a similar problem with mine as the whole shofter unit had come loose from the floor...

Hey Capt'n! :D

I will check t he linkage first - I really hope that's my issue! I might actually get to use him this summer, then!

But either way, I need to sort the output seals, so we've got to take a load of bits off again, lol :)

Decision made though, I think...

Reggie's getting rebuilt after this show season! :)

He needs a new front end sorting out (again!) - The panels themselves are fine, they have rust on them, but not rot (apart from the scuttle) - It just needs doing properly.

He needs some work on the inner wings at the very top, 2 new sills, a little work on both doors where he has 2 little bubbles on one and a split in the paint on the other, where someone's driven into him/kicked him and not mentioned anything ... oh - and a little work on the flitch on the driver's side.

Then, if I'm in a good mood, I'll give him a full respray! :)

In the mean time, I can take him apart completely (mechanically) and strip everything back and sort him out again.

Also - seeing as my van isn't going to be done for a while now - I have a Minitastic spring suspension setup just sitting here ... :tumble:

Well, coming back from Himley today, feeling suitably depressed at the lack of having a Mini ...

... I've decided to take Reggie off the road and chop his front end off

His rust bits are just getting rustier & I think it's something to do with the way it was fitted a few years ago - There seems to be too much movement overall. Also, the front panel doesn't seem to site right at all - I think it's twisted over towards the driver's side! :P

Soooooo ...

Why now and not after the summer season?

Whilst I'd love to enjoy Reggie for another summer, I just can't. If I do, I will be stuck in Winter without a car & with only bad weather to work on him!!

So - We thought if I do it now, I can at least get him sorted and ready & work on him whilst the light is still decent.

And really - the engine needs to come out anyway, so that's half of the work, lol :withstupid:

I reckon I've got all the parts I need - Just gotta save for a full respray now, lol. Or for a compressor & try it myself, lol

I've sort of realised that we can't just go on repairing and repairing & me not really having much confidence in the car - We've been through so much & SO much has been replaced - But he's still playing up.

There comes a point where you've just got to stop, admit defeat and start again! ;)

But - This still leaves me with no car :o

Wrong! :D

We've got this little one sitting at home - It's my Dad's Mini, but has no MOT or Tax - Not for long! I reckon a service & a swap from drums to disks and we'll be well away!!

So - Er - Watch this space for a completely nekkie Reggie! :D

Heheh - Thanks Mr Toaster! :D

I've been trying to get it on the road properly for nearly 3 years, but he's still fighting me :withstupid:

Han - Yeah - Sad times

But, needs must and all that!

I'm far too in love with Reggie to let him go, so I will spend my hard-earned moneys on sorting him out for good
