Since you ask, I'll post some up when I get a free moment then.

I think I'm on the register - I joined the forum through a link from Roger. and the chassis / engine numbers correspond.

Because of how I've got the car currently parked- I've no access to the drivers side to check if the mythical plate still exists - I need to remove the drives seat to find it and I've got the nearside in bits currently.

So you have a RSP 'S' then? They are worth more money so worth restoring. The plate you are looking for is like this next to the drivers chair on the crossmember.

the carpets are currently all glued in; which need ripping up in order to weld the doorsteps. HOPEFULLY its still under there and not been binned like most of the other original bits. The seats are also held in with 2"long x 12mm set screws which are corroded the entire length to compound this.

mine DOES have a "BMC" registration plate though.

The shell is in largely great nick, just some cosmetic its need doing (and most of the mechanical its which bolt onto it!! )

I've been mainly working on my own car this weekend as that's had speedo issues (pistonheads subscribers may be aware of this already) which I involuntarily caused myself moving my pedals.

the drawbacks of being a shortarse!! :genius:

I am a bit confused about this. An RSP won't have a special plate unless it is an 'S'. Possibly only about 80 out of 1650 had this and about 35 are know to exist now. An easy way to check is to see if it has twin carbs and the residual evidence of a blue cylinder head, but this is no guarantee as it might have been changed since.

When I first looked at this I wondered how on earth you were going to get all the bits joined together, but you managed it - nice to see :-)

Yep. I bought the above plate on Ebay as mine is not an "S". Not sure if I will put it on the car as I am not really interested in making a fake S but bought it for fun to wind up the S Pack boys. I also have a pair of twins which I may use at a later date to see if there is much difference in performance. I will upgrade the suspension to adjustable shocks and spacers on the rear as per the JC Handling Pack as I was a period upgrade at the time anyway.

After this is complete I may buy an S and restore that if one comes along at the right price.  :proud:

Cheers. Yes it is getting there. Got to flip it back on it's floor and then I will get on with building the driver's side.

A bit more progress. I decided to keep it on its roof and move onto the driver's floor.

I repaired the ends of the cross member and left the door step in place so I can get the floor in the right place. The door step and frame will be replaced after the floor and A pillar is replaced. The A pillar is completely gone including the inner panel that the lower dash rail is welded to. Good job I bought all the panels.  ;D

There was not a lot of metal on it when I got hold of it.

The plan is to have a rust free car at the end so any part with rust needs to be cut out.

It will be nice when I can put the welder away.

Then I will have to look for another project.

"A" post is rebuilt, door step on and rear quarter one. :) It's starting to look like a Mini again.
