Hi,
When I start my engine, the starter motor make a horrible grinding noise.
My engine is a 1098cc A+ with a pre verto clutch. Because my old inertia starter was dead, I decided to switch to a pre engaged one. I changed the ring gear on my flywheel and took a 129T instead. That was at this point the horrible noise began. In one year all the teeth (I swear) of the ring gear were gone, the starter motor ate them all.
So I think maybe a made a mistake, and bought a new flywheel from mini spares

a pre verto flywheel with a ring gear for pre engaged starter.
Nothing change, same noise. I replaced my pre engaged starter as well and make some tests with a rover one. Less noise, but still a slight grinding noise. I don't understand why a simple thing like that can't work properly .
Is it possible there is an alignement/clearance problem? I called mini spares but they advised me to come by in order to inspect my car. But I live in France so that's not really an option.
I am open to any ideas!
