Real long shot. Anyone have an a+ series engine in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia. We. Are stranded 250km from Ulaanbaatar with an engine that has thrown a rod.

We tried patching the hole in the gearbox and running it on three. We managed about 25km before she completely gave up. We are now in the process of arranging a shopping container to get her back to the Uk.

So yesterday we officially started the Mongol Rally. They picked 20 cars they thought "were doing it right" (in other word we think you're mental) to start. My mini was picked

No was a mini. Followed the "instructions" in my service manual which are just wrong. Bit of googling later and I quickly gave up on that method, put the seal on the car and push the glass into the seal. I've fitted other glass (including the side windows) using the string method so didn't initially question it.

My Co driver and I have had a quite heated argument. Please help settle it. He wants to start stripping the cylinder head off the engine and service it. I say we should get the car running and MOT'd first, then do it if we have time. We have 8 weekends left before we set off on the mongol rally, two of which I can't work on the car.

How much experience of Minis do you each have?.
From 50 years of 'playing' with Minis, the only reason to take the head off an engine that is going OK, would be to check the size of the exhaust valve, and carry a spare.
I admire your choice of car. I'd have picked a 4X4 Panda.

I've had a mini since I was 16 and currently own two. I know some of the history of the engine as the car used to be my daily drive when I was 17. The engine ran when removed.

The rally organisers said no 4wd this year. I think they were fed up of people using suzuki jimnys and panda 4x4

I Ovid sellers/traders with 100% feedback but also a high percentage or revised feedback. Although I’m completely avoiding leaving feedback for a purchase of some door regulators that sold cheaply (£7.50 the pair) before Christmas. Just got rid of the annoying 'avast secure browser' which I did not want on my computer. When uninstalling it, it asked me why. My answer. 'because I use chrome like a normal person'

Figured out why my replacement ignition switch didn't work. One of the plugs was pinned out in completely the wrong order. 10 minutes and a small screw driver later and we are sorted.

Just what I need. I buy a replacement part for my car after its caused a series of breakdowns and the brand new replacement I get sent has even more faults.

A seller off eBay. I'm not going to name them at the minute as I will give them a chance to sort the issue and send a replacement. It could just be a one off. It was for my civic not a mini.
