Do I need the black spacer plate for the carb? I've got one fitted but the carb is squashed against the bulk really bad!

Have you got an hif carb? I believe there are longer top engine steadies you could try, or a different inlet manifold. I have a half thickness spacer which could make all the difference.

How much do people think a front end respray would cost in Electric blue? All new panels, wings, front etc?

okayy.. sorry man.. and i really dont think it's possible to quote something like that. some garages charge £30 an hour while others my charge £45-70 per hour.. Some even will just say £900 whatever happens. It completely depends on the place you take it and what finish you're expecting..
Others might have a different opinion, but thats what i think..

We're having a TVR sprayed at the moment, the entire car being painted, along with any final prep (pin holes etc), in metallic orange, price is going to be £1800 - £2200. But as mentioned above, you could get a different quote from every place you try.

Ran out of fuel for the first time ever the otherday.. That's what happens when your tank reads empty when half full!

Luckily I had a can of fuel in the boot for just such an occasion;) Unfortunately I had to use a CV boot to funnel the fuel in haha

Extremely! Although I had to do a lot of patch/bodge welding work before the MOT which it would have failed on.. Will update my thread soon :) Just glad I get to fix everything in my own time for another year instead of rushing around

@Ryan, yeah this guy's been MOT'ing my grandparents cars, and my dads cars for years.. He's also restoring his own mini as well, he's been very lenient with my dads car in the past! @Grim I'm sure it's gonna fail on something stupid like rubbers/gaiters!

Thank you! I thought Galloons was an odd type of measurement :D This also means my fuel tank reads empty while there is still 16 Litres in there :|
Jan 15 2014 06:21 PM -
robminibcy
I'm sure that although that is the volume you can't actually get that much in as the top of the tank is higher than the filler neck!
Jan 15 2014 06:38 PM -
Seba5tian
That's true, but when only 18 Litres fills my tank from "empty" at the pump when a whole tank is about 34 Litres there's obviously something going wrong with my fuel gauge! Doubtful that the filler neck is the missing 16 Litres ;)

The worst part is that it's my daily drive and I need her.. So I'm going to have to bodge it for its MOT until summer holidays where she'll get a full strip down!

Is the fact my mini never needs to be choked to start/run in any condition you can name a hint that it could be running slightly to rich?

If it was me I wouldnt be worried unless fuel economy was bad - unfortunately I havent been on a long enough run to know if mine is better on the economy side or not yet. Im sure someone else with a bit more know how will have words of wisdom :-)

Mine did that. It was supposed to be at 3.5%. It ran at 9% when we put it on the gas tester. Oops...
