C14SE vauxhall engine. I don't know who decided that putting a thermostat behind the timing belt cover would be a good idea. It means removing the cambelt, camshaft pulley, crankshaft pulley ect. Bit of a PITA, but must be done. :( GRRR!

I have in my possession a yellow tag brake master cylinder and I am looking to first a new seal kit to it. My problem is I can remove the first piston with compressed air in the large hole but I can not remove the upper piston. How is this done and are there any seals to be changed?

How many people run with roof gutter trim on their mini? Just seems to be a water trap on mine.

I started replacing mine, but then couldn't get the new one on so I have just left it off . Looks fine, and means you can get the gutter clean when you wash the car and also it gets the chance to dry off rather than having wet dirt trapped under it.

Don't buy a Mac alister angle grinder mine 3 weeks old and the bearing already gone, lost the receipt, my challenge extreme grinder lasted 4 years with new bushes once.

When double clutching through gears, should you take the clutch to the floor, or like I do and just dip it say a third to half way?

You will be pressing the clutch pedal to come out of 3rd, and also to go into 2nd, so in both cases you need to have the clutch fully depressed. The only question would be when letting the clutch out in neutral between the gears, do you need to let it fully out, to which I would say you could probably get away with only letting it out half way or so, as the point is just to spin the gears up in neutral.

Since you're doing a full rebuild, it makes sense to replace those panels and make it safer. You'll feel better about it too.

Yep it's gone. Someone previously repaired half of it and over lapped the join! The repairs on him where shocking!

Some of the local guys are planning a long cross country trip for a national meet and it will be 1200 km one way... I'm scared that my mini won't be able to handle the trip :(

I will do when there is something to show. I haven't forgotten about the mini and work is still being done. I'm just in a position where I can do the swap and have been toying around with the idea for a few years now. It should be more of a bolt together conversion with very little fabrication unlike the mini.
