It was my first car too, and I learnt and took my test in it. So it means the world to me! Driving back from work yesterday with the sun shining was amazing! :D

New rear springs/shocks have arrived for Project Zippy. Being from Essex, they will make the car go faster. Obviously.

My Mini's first MOT tomorrow (With my ownership, of course). There's nothing wrong with it, but still a bit nerve racking.

The emissions were terrible too. But at least the car will be put right, and it's an opportunity to get a RC40/Maniflow that I always wanted :)

The key plus point there is that there was no mention of body corrosion issues, which is great news. I assume it is the back subframe which has been faulted, which isn't too bad a job.

LOL! My mate just asked me, "Is it still legal to have a speedo in miles?" I'm like, "Mate. I have no reply for that."

I'd have kicked him out the car and said that a mini cannot tolerate that level of stupidity.

Don't like pizza, It's awful. I was in early for a maths exam, and noticed the mini parked up at Pizza Hut, when walking from the car park to the college. On another note I paid £5 to park the damn thing. GRRR. :(

Would solid subframe mounts be an insurance mod? Is it classed as a service thingy to prevent the trouble caused by rubber ones or is that not how it works?
Jun 03 2015 03:48 PM
  • spiguy's Photo
    spiguy
it's a modification because it is a deviation from what was fitted as standard, assuming your car didn't come with em and they were changed later.. It would be easy for an insurance company to claim it was done to improve the handling, which then suggests that you were trying to improve 'performance' with the subsequent implication that you would use this new found performance...

Then you can say non genuine parts are a modification aswell. I told my insurance company id soild mounted mine and they didn't even put it up

But I'm still a learner at the moment and when I pass my insurance will already be high enough. For a complete set of new rubber mounts it's almost £100 + VAT from Minispares! I might have to go non-genuine :(
