Amazing how much difference having brand new, completely plain plates makes

Has anyone ever fitted a DTM exhaust to their Mini? Any thoughts?

Yes. When I was young and didn't know better. Loud, obnoxious and power-sapping.

Been struggling on what to get as I want a big sound change. A 1.75 maniflow is sensible but I'd want something more noticeable. Been drawn to the DTM because of the look to be honest.
Might be interested in a second hand one as I could sell it for the same price roughly so it's worth a try.
Is it just the back box you got? I'll need a link pipe and bracket also? Thanks.

My father should be getting the Ford Capri from the resto garage next week. Looking forward to seeing our classics together :))

Desperate to take the Mini out for a run, but it's been raining virtually non-stop :(

It's a love-hate relationship with a Mini... Mostly hate though.

My mini is stuck in the garage ATM. If you only work 3 miles, or less, from home, don't worry. :)I travel 6 miles to work, and wish I worked closer to home. I don't like driving in rush hour with all the lunatics. lol. :(

Try 12 miles and at least 200 miles a week then Anthony :p Almost have a nervous breakdown everyday!

I also drive as part of my job, and can't be bothered to be honest. I like driving around town in my own time, but not in rush hour, or for work. A 3 mile commute to work was ideal for me.

Does anyone else's Mini seek revenge by not starting when you leave it out in the rain?

That's not strictly true, as in I had no choice but to stop. The engine just died.....

no problem starting.. just dont have the windows open when you set off or it will rain in the car from the roof gutter! :D - I found this the hard, and rather damp way yesterday...

Going to take the Mini to Castle Combe tomorrow before I make plans for hibernation :)

I've noticed a lot of Minis have sound deadening on the bottom on the bonnet, how good is this?

Does anyone insure their Minis when they are SORNed over the Winter? How much do you pay roughly?

That's why I want to keep it insured Pingu. But it's so expensive, hoping for something like £10.

Some policies won't award you NCB if you insure it not to move. Check the fine print.

your best bet is to call them up as miles will obviously lower, state what garage it's in, stirring lock kept on, wha lock is on the garage i.e. master lock number 10 and they might drop it down for you.

Anyone here own a Bini, around 2001-2004. What is the road tax for 6 and 12 months? :)

Great car to drive and easily upgraded to Cooper performance with a bluefin.
http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/
Check the Rover gearbox on pre-2004 models for bearing noise, check everything electrical works and don't worry if the power steering whines. PS pumps can fail but are an easy diy job but allow £200 for a recon pump if it does.

Also look up 'death rattle' on Google. Had to replace a few engines in the past.

I think the 'death rattle' problems were only on the later Mk2 Cooper S introduced in 2007?

Get into the show as a regular show car. Normally there's an application form etc

I'm pretty sure you can go into the main part if you're on a club stand, even when you are you may not be in there though. last year cornish mini club was next to the dean straight part of the circuit.

Advisor, it's normally you advising them as they can't find it on the system or see it on the parts drawing.

When do people normally put Minis into hibernation and take them back out again?

It's really just the salt on the roads you need to avoid in winter. Other than that good to get it out and blow away some cobwebs as redruby says.
