Speed humps coming out of the Oracle in Reading are evil... Since having the CAT removed i've had no issues but with it.. it scrapes every time... savage

Ever wandered around the car to plan an exit that means you miss every bump?

Every time your catch your sump you fear the worst, mind you they are sturdy.

Never had any bother with the engine end, but bumps go straight for my CAT (it is hanging about two inches off the ground, mind, but still).

Is there any way to put in another exhaust mount to hoist up the CAT section a bit?

There's a minimum speed that you must be able to traverse a speedbump at without causing any damage to your car, that is 10mph. If you cannot go over a bump without catching your exhaust or sump at 10mph then write to your council.

My wheels always end up smacking into my wheelarch.

In my old work my floor used to hit the bumps they were that big, ended up pulling my battery cable off.

I hate them and my wing is now a little mis-shaped from being smacked, I go sooo slowly over them, have been overtaken a few times on them.

The ones I hate most though are the ones that are plastic and quite tall but realy short. So its like hitting a curb. Dont like those one little bit.

I have the same problem, mine has a lil pipe that sticks out of it too, which makes it even closer to the ground =[
I dont know what that lil pipe does but i dont want to have to try and fix it once it ripped off!!

I hate the buggers!

The exhaust on the Mini I use to have would catch speed bumps, but that was because I lowered it.

One time I hit a really bad pot hole and the fuel cut off switch kicked in. At the time I didn't know there was a button to reset it so I was stuck there.

very slowly with two wheels over the hump and the other two near the curb.

my exhaust comes out of the middle so its even less clearance.

see.

mine is lowered and stiffened at the rear, and stiffened at the front. i recently caught my zaust on a fairly shallow hump going at a snails pace. about 20 people turned round when they heard the noise. stooppid things. moodern cars can actually straddle the square ones so they are a total waste of time and money. the short but high ones are a fecking nightmare as they just bounce the car everywhere and if hit hard enough would probably be enough to cause the driver to lose control of teh vehicle.

we have the stupid square ones round our way and i have to get 2 wheels over the middle and be in 2nd gear otherwise they try to rip off the rear silencer. i also have a peugeot 406 and in that you wouldnt know they were there. and i always get idiots tailgating when i am in the mini
so they only slow down small cars rip the bloody things out i say.

I encounter those silly square lumps on the way to college every morning, they are fine in my 106, as it is the exact right width to just clear the sides, so you don't have to slow down.

However when i drove in in my mini, i can't even go that way, even at walking pace, the silencer would scrape as they are so aggressively shaped. I have to go another way round a one-way system that's always chock-a-block at 9am >_<

And that was before my mini has been lowered, i dread to think what it would do once the rear is lowered
