minicooperman Rite from what I can make out in the pic they don't look factory, look like sony or something, but if ur on a tight budget just move these to the front and have a sub in the boot, put a new carpet over the speaker holes on the parcel shelf, thats it. The empty speaker holes will allow more bass into the cabin and the sub will provide more bass than 6x9's and then u won't have to waste money on pointless speakers. Also saves u cutting a structural part of ur car, having to take the back window and fuel tank out, to do the job properly and maybe even putting in some mdf spaces to lift the maget's free of ur fuel tank, saving weight, save on sound deadening the rearshelf as it would rattle like hell with 6x9's in and finally save u smoothing the cut's down to give a neat edge and maybe even a bit of touch up painting if ur a perfectionist (spelling). OR and just thought of another major one less likely to get nicked because nowts on display really. So a win win sittuation.

philster u couldn't be more rite with that one!!!When you first hear a set of 6x9's when all you've had is standard speakers you think 'wow they sound really good' but then you listen to a simple setup with just front speakers and a sub and you throw your crappy 6x9's in the bin!
Wow thats along post!!!!! :nugget:

i also presume i need a new hu in this case as i dont think it has an amp input... how many pre out's would it need? 2? one for amp one for sub?
the rear speakers were in the car when i got it, i presumed they were standard but obviously not... would they fit in the air vents and how easy is it to move the speakers to replace the air vents, fit and amp and a sub?
thanks again

And yes it's easy to do, so go for it.

This would be a cheap and easy solution for me aslong as 1. my cranky old jvc head unit will support the amp and 2. i find a dcent place upfront for the 5" coaxils.

I've not actually had the sub fitted since putting the front speaker builds in (previously in door pods) so don't know how it'll sound together but the builds i have now are a considerable improvement over the door ones.
Here's a pic of the front as it is at the moment

And here's a pic of the sub mounted free-air (or infinate baffle) in the boot before it was removed to do some essential welding work.

wonder if im right...
look under your parcelshelf from the boot, and the details should be stamped on the magnet

I plan to get speakers for the front but am not sure where to put them.
I want to put the a sub amp package in the boot but havent decided how yet. And size is imported. Maybe I should go for a 10" sub to save space? Or will that fill the boot to? If so I'll go for a 12".
Heres a pic of a good friend of mine sammyd's mini (who was at the ace cafe last night if anyone saw him?) with 12" vibe sub, and has vibe components and tweeters as well as a vibe amp.
