It would of sounded C**p to be honest, it looks to have been running free-air which still needs something to seperate the air from the front from the air at the back otherwise it'll sound poo, plus you squeezed it in a really small gap, not even an 8" sub in a sealed box would perform well in an area that small! And you've put wadding in which effectively would make the enclosure even smaller lol.

I had a 10" vibe in its box in mine and there wasn't a lot of spare room. I could fit a cd changer in there too and a few shopping bags. Not a lot else.

well......my boot boards only fit a 10inch sub, as i think thats all you need in a mini perosnally, and it fits nicely.....meaning you can still have storage space! (see below.)

however i am developing a 12inch sub box boot board set with no stoarage space!

Thought wadding made the enclosure more dense and so added volume making the cu.ft effectively bigger?

I was told that a small ported enclosure with wadding covering the ports would give the enclosure the same effect of a biger enclosure. :w00t:

Anybody fancy working out the diamaters for a 50 litre box?

the diamaters for a 50 litre box?

There'd be a million different dimensions!

I'd work out where you where you wanted to put it, get the general shape, then modify it till it's 50 litres?

But as you all know . . . i'm carp when it comes to these things.

any kind of filling in a sub box is used for 2 different reasons, it is to help stop any sound wave reflections from the wall of the enclosure in a ported box, as these reflections can bounce back out of the vent and create a muffling effect.

the other reason is to change the overall behaviour of the waves, the fillling makes the soundwaves change their energy signatures, and it believe it or not, makes the illusion of the woofer being of a bigger size. if i am correct the sound waves are turned into heat, and this creates a much smoother kind of bass. however just randomly filling a box with foam is the absolute no no in every case. as it can completely mess with a subwoofers sound. you must consult a proper audio electrician or use the proper related dimension equations.

as ive said for the dimensions of a 50 litre box, if you were using 18mm MDF then it would be along the lines of 32cm(w)x32cm(d)x55cm (h), but thats no-where near perfect.

id like to know how much space it will take up

it will fill the boot, my mates does, he has a 1000WATT vibe with the amp built in and in its own box and that takes up all the boot, you would be better of filling it full of tools, to be honest

PS: 10 inch is plenty big enough 12 is over kill IMO

pooky's has a lot of room left with the way his sub/amp are mounted.

a 12" and then that ingeneous idea of as pimp my ride would say "Plexi Glass".
there is plenty of room in there now!

yeah but if u read further up he's taken it out because it sounded cr@p as it wasn't sealed and there isn't enough room in there for a sub to work corecctly.
