That is what I thought too, my Dad seems to know wayyyyyyy too much about Micheal Caine and the films he's been in>_< LOLHardly news though is it? It's fairly common knowledge. I'm pretty sure I've described the plot of the planned sequel in a thread here before. Saving everyone from the bus isn't the planned ending of the first film, it's the opening of the sequel. The film ends as it was always meant to. The sequel was cancelled when one of the actresses from the first film died I believe, I don't know who it was though.

just sit and listen to the DVD commentary and count the number of times that troy Kennedy martin has to correct the guy, its actually embarrassing and i wonder how he ever let it get put on the DVD.
Chinese whispers i believe they call it.
the original ending to the film was actually published in the book (again explained on the DVD). when they came to film it they thought it was too boring so they came up with the cliff hanger.
the tale that Micheal Caine is telling is a "possibility" for a sequel that never happened, NOT the planed ending
get the DVD, and actually listen to it
