ALso extra spot lamps were added in the tunnel scene, watch it you will see they have extra ones in a couple of frames.

I think that is mainly because they had so many Minis to use and destroy in the film.

For a start they did attempt the wall of death in that tunnel (which is a sewer in Coventry I believe). But due to a ledge or holes for light fittings the Minis ended up on their roofs and were pretty much destroyed.

They wrecked many Minis in the tunnel because Remy did manage to complete a loop during rehearsals and everybody thought it looked great so they kept trying to repeat it. They never managed to do it again. And yes the cars have various different looks throughout the film. Rollcages disappear from time to time and spot lamps move about. It's all down to continuity and shooting out of sequence.

As for the sequel being cancelled due to poor box office in America, I don't believe that's entirely true. I've worked quite regularly with a fair number of the original crew and I'm told that pre-production was quite far advanced when the film was scrubbed.

Whether anything you hear on a DVD commentary is actually a fact is another matter. The commentaries are always by directors and producers and other above the line crew and frankly I wouldn't trust any of them to reliably remember a fact from last week, never mind 30 years ago. Most producers are on set so rarely that the only stories they can reliably remember are about what happened in the office when the photocopier jammed.

Hang on lads - where exactly is the fuel tank in a coach ?
Isn't it at the front ? Under the driver's seat ?
Meaning the more fuel you burn the more likely you are to all go over the cliff ?

I was just thinking why dont they all get in the cab, as far forward as possible. The lightest fella get out and go get some big ol rocks then once enough tcounterweight is added they simply just go down and grab their gold, hav'nt seen it in a while but didn'nt they leave their van halfway down the mountain.
They could used that to then tow the bus back onto the road.

Thats what I was just thinking.

See I should be a film writer

NO?!? ok then il just stick to watching them.
