Matrix where did you get your carbon parts, as they really shouldn't deteriorate like that...

It was all curley stuff! really dissapointed with it...I had to sent one roof panel back as it went milky before I even put it on the car! I was told it was caused by damp but it had been keeped in side my house! I think it's the gel coat thats gone so I might have a go at refinishing it with a clear coat before I paint it all black.

I had a couple of bad experiences with them also, that's the reason why we had a go at making our own carbon in the
first place...
Yeah id try 1500 grit and a gloss coat of laquer...Hopefully it isnt trapped underneath that gellcoat they use...

Haha two stainless back boxes will definitely add a bit of weight, but at least it'll be in the right place, helping to stop my
rear end from bouncing round corners...

Hi james88...Sorry to hear youve had a bad experience with carbon in the past, there are allot of companies
out there making fibreglass parts with an outer skin of carbon. Its shocking that they advertise them as carbon fiber as they clearly arent...
Also if there laid up properly in a non damp environment and UV protected properly then they shouldnt go milky at all...Ive heard of allot of
carbon doing this but none of mine has ever ended up this way, my old carbon bonnet made by carbon weezel was out in direct sunlight
for 2 years all year round through a very damp winter, with no problems, just requiring the odd waxing...
still have it now although not using it anymore, the carbon still looks as clear as the day it was laid up...
Its now probably going up on the wall as a piece of art... :)

Im afraid that if you look at the majority of the mini parts on the market advertised as carbon fiber are actually fiberglass, with a carbon fiber outer skin, thats they only way they seem to be able to keep the prices reasonable, as with everything in the world you get what you pay for.

Dude thats some of the best looking kit i have seen, top marks for doing it, as so many people now wish for one or more parts for there car,
I have the cheap stuff which is light but not strong ,as the bonnet has cracks already just putting it on and off. the things not even been on the road yet. Do you have a list of things you have made so far as i too would like a front grill the same as yours. :)

Lol, surprised no one has pointed it out earlier but yeah the 'coming soon' will in time be changed to 'Carbon Classics' as I am currently
in the very early stages of building a website and starting up a business...
I have a few ideas for 'original' products that no one else makes, so hopefully, fingers crossed...
I dont want to list the parts Im going to make just yet as there are lots of companies who trawl this forum for ideas, so im afraid at the moment
you will have to wait on that one...

As TomF has already stated the majority of the products out there are fibreglass with one layer of carbon fiber twill on the outside, if somethings expensive you pretty much know itll be excellent quality but just to be safe always ask what your getting before you buy...

If anyone is interested in a Mk1 carbon grill though, please contact me and ill see what I can do...I dont have any made at the moment so theyll
have to be made to order but i'd be happy to make more straight away...
Of coarse all my products will be 100% carbon fiber and constructed so they won't deteriorate like a large majority of the other companies
products.
Look forward to hearing from you...
