How come you didnt get any etch primer then?

Your probs best off just using the stonchip straight onto the fiberglass with what you have got, as the high build stuff wont stick very well to fiberglass...

I couldn't see any.. the bloke said the Hi-Build stuff was etch primer.

I think I might just order a load from Moss because I know what I'm getting then and it says what it is on the can, tried about 3 different places in town and couldn't find anything I wanted.

I've still got the receipt so I might back it all to the shop.

Gonna get out this afternoon and spray the front I think, so I just sand it down all over with 180 & start applying the stonechip?

Well I've been mugged! >_<

Good plan, I'll get out into the garage today and start spraying.

What the guy told you is rubbish, you want to take that back and tell him so! there will be no point using that primer before stonechip, you might as well apply the stonechip straight onto the abraded 'glass.

take the primer back and get your money back, should be enough for a couple pints down the pub :genius:.
let us know how you get on with the stone chip

just make sure you get all the glass dust off before you spray it on.

Yup, sanded it down and brushed off all the dust.

Applied the first coat, I missed the grille bit of course because that'll get cut out anyway.

2 coats total should be enough?

As you're using aerosol, I'd go for about 4 coats. It's kinda thin stuff.

Cheers Peter, I think I can squeeze another 3 coats out of the cans I have left.

Sand down between each layer or just spray straight on top?

Just let it flash off, which normally means to go tacky, but stonechip doesn't really go tacky, so just wait until the shine has gone and it looks matt. It's quite obvious when that hammerite stuff is dry enough for another coat, as it goes a bit grey.

When I last checked there were a few glossy patches still so it'll be left over night and I'll go out tomorrow and spray another layer on.

Thanks Peter.
