do you really think the police, who are on a budget and more than likely short staffed as it is are going to give up a police officer every night till they turn up? NO!

Get a written off astra with damage on only one side
park it with the damage facing away from the entrance and buy some blue lights off fleabay and paint to make it look like a cop car. have a motion sensor so that when they come up the yard the blue lights flash and the "fake cop car" lights come on automatically when someone approaches or just the blue lights. i doubt they will risk it? it wouldnt really matter is animals trigger it would it if the blue lights and car are positioned where they wont bother the neighbors when they go off?

i think if they came and asked for some of the scrap you have if you have any you would props give it to them but as people have said in the past you an deter them put they will still keep comng back are the doors metal if the are wire them up to a car battery and then sit and wait aslong as you have enough volts going throught it all you have to do then is dump the bodies
