Ceramic coating can be both internal and external, but you will still have the problem of moving the heat further down the system, if that is a problem for you.

From some photos we had posted on here a while ago, stainless manifolds don't last anywhere near as long as mild ones when wrapped. The warping is much more pronounced and happens really fast. I wrapped my first freeflow (mild steel) years ago and it also warped pretty quickly and developed pinholes. I had the wrap on for less than 6 months before I gave up on it. Another side effect I noticed was that becasue the heat is released further down the system, the interior of the car and in particular the whole tunnel becomes very, very hot. The rubber block mounting was actually starting to melt and without carpets the front section of the tunnel was too hot to touch at times. The engine was in proper tune, not lean and still there was tremendous heat. I'll never fit this stuff again. I'll make custom heat shields for areas that need it from flexible two-ply heat barrier. I do use the Thermotec clips for my CV gaiters though!

That section of pipe should always be solid metal, preferably steel as original. You haven't replaced it with rubber have you?
I think it the original engine was rubber, or at least when I bought it. I will definitely have to do something about it.
Hmm some mixed views there. I'm a little bit worried about it 'corroding' and 'distorting' my manifold. The main reason for wanting it is to keep the heat away from the feed from petrol pump to carb and also because I thought it was good for performance to keep the heat it.
Did you consider moving the fuel pipe, you can rotate the pump outlet, then take the pipe almost straight up, onto the bulkhead, accross behind the carb, and into the carb?

I thought the pump was fixed. I was give it a go though as this will cure one of my problems.

Yes, the link I posted is for an aluminium/ceramic coating that you paint on and bake in the oven. I do know folk who have used it without baking and it seems just fine. It works very well and lasts even on turbo cars. You can even do the inside just like my Aussie dp too if you want! And you can polish it up to a near chrome finish using a stainless brush on a drill if blings your thing!!!

same here the Thermotec heat wrap was for my saxo but i soon abandoned that and used it on my mini

Talking of manifolds, I currently have the mild steel LCB setup on my 1293. I bought a 3into1, not sure if its mild or stainless off someone who used to race a 1293 at 120+ bhp. He used the 3into1 on his mini, which is wrapped. He said he used to have to run the heat wrap because if he didn't then it used to melt something on the twin HIF44 setup he used to run. I bought it off him, but have heard it might be too big for my engine setup. Its basically a 1293, HIF 44 and a few other mods producing 90bhp. Would people in their experience reccomend fitting this manifold to my car?
My LCB is blowing at the top under the carb, and I think its split, so would like to fit the 3into1. The only problem is that the 3into1 is the same size diameter as the 2" link pipe, so I would need to buy a sleeve to join them.
Any thoughts??
