well time for an update i painted and finished off the door ready to fit

and decided that today was the day to fit it

i prepared myself for the fiddly part of taking it apart which went worrringly well including undoing the hinges
and heres a vid with that done as i was amazed

Posted Image

then new door went on with a lil fiddling then came the first problem

i had some how managed to bend the window mech in the process of removing it so not only was it a *illegitimate person* to make it fit but when i tried to wind the window up after an hour of messing was going up like the titanic ie verticaly id bent the arm :( :dontgetit:  :)

Posted Image

spent another hour trying to fix it during which it was snowing and i moved the car into the garage by now it was going dark

so i spent lil longer then got ready for church lol

after church had my tea then went out to have another try with richard my mum's bf hes an engineer and ex army so knows his shissel

we had a look and he showed me how bent i was untill now i didnt know what was wrong thought it was the glass or the door lol

so he had a go with the hammer then i did then i knelt on a screw drive owwwwww

so wasnt budging i then tried the water pliers which worked

so refited it to see how far off it was a full lift and it was still 1 inch out so me being be i got the hook pry bar hooked it under the arm and pulled it took a lil effort but got the inch it needed

removed it again lil bit of straighening and then was fixed :w00t: :) :P

happy bunny started refitting the door mech lost the circlips argg got my magnet found then got the door handle fitted had a lil more fiddling refitted the door card went attach the winder handle the door open handle i the went to fit the handle one screw fitted after a lil jiggery pokery but the other screw had no where to go the new door had no screw hole !!!!!!!!!! arr

got my drill and used a 4mm bit refitted it all again then went to fit the window seals / chrome strip out of the 2 sets i had on one half fitted do have to do for now

then went to fit the new mirror and guess what the mirror holes were way out tooo yaya arhhhhh

so drilled another hold attached the mirror done

went to shut the door much better seal now and doesnt flapp about like the wind :P

so moved my tools and put bertie back to his offical parking space and toook some night time shots :P

so a very busy day over :P for the record i hate scissor style window mechs and i hate the way the doors were so bloddy different

but needless to say it done now if i have chipped some of the new paint off

another fun day found out why my subframe has sooo much swap the front bolts had pulled threw the body work so i fitted some new nits bolts and thick spacers 100 times better its alot better now

the zorst fell of agen was only on 1 inch so took of the whole system hammered a large chisel in then cut the pipe across the center, hammered in a socket to widen it out and reshape it then hammered on to the lcb and clamped after a full refit was blowing so i removed the clamp and welded the middle pipe. I then reclamped it and check was a tiny pin hole and was a tiny blow so i got out the welder agen and gave it a few more zaps and was fixed

then lowered the car and reiftted the battery sounded great.

Then went for a spin its sooo much sharper and faster :P

well busy couple of weeks firstly i have moved into my garage so now have all my car bits and tools in one place :P

very happy no detailed pics just one of bertie parked infront

Posted Image

so then had another idea thought id post some pics of my headlight since my h4 convo so enjoy

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

so to today had a very up and down day firstly started the task i was dreading my front rear subframe mounts
came of easy enough and as i was removing them i found out the what i was dreading they were sheared ie in to parts

that would explain why when i went round a corner at 70 and dropped the clutch why the car would crab left and right !!!

heres a pic of the mounts old and new not best picture but better than nothting and also another pic of my car in axel stand and my trusty ole plank

Posted Image
Posted Image

so then i had to solve the problem that my new poly black subframe mounts came without the metal inserts so off to b&q ended up getting a long piece of pipe and some mate nuts and bolts costing me an expensive £7.89 lol and the mounts were £2.20 of ebay so cheap

then got back cut the pipe to lenght using a g clamp and some good ole wood lol

then filed them and started the tricky bit before i went to fit the mate bolts i made a 2mm thick peiece the shame shape as the old subframe bracket
then put some sealant on and then put in place

had a fiddle and struggles to fit the mounts arggg so ended up getting my sister to help then go it bolted in with a bit of fiddling and i forgot the washers so took off the bolts and refitted it

then moved on to the next side this was a big ole pain in the arse!
after 2 hours got this dont with a lot of stressing and banging my head leaning on a cardboard staple and also cutting my fingers arrrrrggg

then lowered the car and had a look b4 i cleaned it first check was to repaint the floor as i have replaced the bracket and the bolts were the same lovely grey stone chip so i re painted these spots of the floor i then noticed there was water on the floor agen and the seals i made had well in sort failed

so i had to reseal the floor and then left to dry washed the car down after fitting the hose pipe and gave bertie a well deserved wash

drove home the car was a dream steering so much smoother and nicer even at slow speed like a new car then driving at 60 corning was perfect no weaving even a lil move of the wheel the car was moving instantly great

so got in and after some tea went to upload the pics to my mum shouting my name
i ran down stairs and my mum was holding me kitten meme she was dead

the mad lil kitten had fallen asleep in the tumble drier arggggg

so to sum up fixed car good, hurt my hand bad, cleaned the car good, got home to my kitten dead ahhhhhh

well at least im ok if a lil sad
