were the disk's new too? if the disk was worn previously they might not have worn in a flat plain, when putting on new pads which are flat you could have possibly reduced the contact area due to the bowed surface of the disk.

That would seem a good choice of pads, you really should have more braking than it sounds like you have. The cylinders are close to original mini bore sizes, what about the pedal lever ratio?
Is there a driving track near you? There's an old airfield near here that has a bit of a track & does driver training for kids before they're 17 etc. Seems a cheaper option than turning up at a hill climb with a car that isn't race ready.

Curborough is close to me but i dont think its open for testing?
Ok managed to drive up and down my lane a few times... braking every couple of hundred yards. They seem to be getting better, i can actually stop the car now!
.. but its not the face thru the windscreen i was expecting.
Discs are brand new by the way.
However ive only been out 5 minits up and down and someone near me has come out to complain. They say im filling thier garden with fumes!!!! They make me laugh!
