the citroen engine/box is wider than the mini subframe ,so the drivers side had to be cut away and widened, [you can see some of the fabrication in the second picture] and the passengers side reworked. fabricate mounts etc
i used a spare subframe , and fitted the engine/box , driveshafts etc on the deck . then fitted the lot in a day. then had to work out a cooling system, how to fit an alternator, gear linkage and wiring.
it would have been a lot easier with a removable front!
the solid mini shafts are a tight fit inside the hollow citroen shafts. just cut and batter them inside, then a couple of runs of arc weld and *lady garden*'s your aunt.
if anyones owned/driven an ax gt or 205 xs, they will know what a cracker of an engine it is, very eager with instant throttle response.

meaby this would be better in the "engine conversions" section,[ unless youve got a "48 year old boy racer " section.]
any moderators want to shift it, feel free.

7000 rpm is the standard redline on this engine! maximum power is at 6400 rpm and the ignition cuts at 7200.
i run it on 10w40 semi synthetic.you dont need to rev the gonads of it though, its got lots of torque.
the ax gt is pretty low geared anyway [18.4mph per thousand revs in 5th] on standard 13" wheels.
my mini has 165/60 12 yokos fitted so is aprox 17 mph per thousand revs in 5th, so you can see its pretty low geared, aprox 6000rpm at the ton, but youve still got another 1000 rpm to the red line!

one of the gearchange rods feel off one day, leaving me with only 3rd and 5th gears, i discovered it would do 0 to 60 mph in 12 seconds IN 3RD GEAR ONLY!!!
ive got a video of that somewhere, i.ll post it up when i find it.

if you were doing more motorway driving you could fit a box out of a pug 106 or saxo with higher gearing. at the expense of some of the grunt, to me its a backroad blaster, so the gearing is spot on for me!!!!

heres it doing 0 to 60 mph in 3rd, when the speedo is verticle its doing a genuine 60 mph

thats a rover 200 instrument pod by the way,the wires are the same colour, but the speedo reads fast, and the fuel gauge reads 1/2 when its full!

you should seriously get a tubular manifold makes a huge difference on the tu engines and then go to kam racing.com and get a racelancd induction kit with green cotton filter rude not to ;)

i used to have a 106 xs about 10 yrs ago, was the early type, carb model, so i think its a similar engine to yours..very responsive and plenty of power, and are very very reliable units!
