As per the article, I think it's been an open secret on lots of motoring forums that it was Collins (for the most part anyway), especially after Hammonds crash.

I know a bloke in Dumfries Police brass band, and one of the traffic cops in Dumfriesshire (sp) caught the Stig exceeding the speed limit
while filming for the show. In exchange for not booking him he asked to know the identity of the stig (as he was in full stig kit).
At that time the Stig was jason plato , but if you watch dave and see different series there must be a few Stigs as the body shapes/sizes
do vary from time to time. so the real question should be who are the stigs ?

I once had one of those driving experience day things where you drive a subaru impreza (very interesting that was... ) and get driven around a track in a Dax, and the instructors/trainers said there are a number of people who fulfil the role of "The Stig" so I would say there's more than one...
