so the real question should be who are the stigs ?

To my knowledge at the moment there are 5 guys they regularly use, not all drivers are available when Top Gear want them. They use racing drivers and stunt drivers and these people tend to be doing their real jobs a lot of the time. That's the real reason they keep his identity hidden, so they can substitute him. You can see from the power laps that Stig doesn't always take the same line.

The real question is who was Mrs Stig when they were on holiday at the private track? Probably just some PA I guess.

when top gear filmed their dvd heaven and hell at my place ( nice long runways ),and being a military base the stig had to book in at the main guard room and get his picture taken,and on that day at least it was at least ben collins

There they had to book teh stig in as a driver with his real name, so they booked half a dozen people as drivers, and just hid who drove the car at any time.
