Thought I would introduce myself and project on here. I have been doing up a mini shell over the past 4 months in Guernsey. I now have it sprayed and the kit arrived on Christmas eve (best present I ever had even if I did buy it myself)!!
Anyway I spent this weekend gathering manpower and we managed to get the kit installed. It went in quite easily although lining everything up took a little while.
I was worried about scratching the fresh paint, but there are very few marks considering. The only problem was when it fell off the jack and the top bar hit the roof causing a minor dent! Nothing that cant be fixed!
Here are some pics.
Ben.

You can see from the first photo, I had my mechanic on it straight away after unpacking!!

Welcome.

Looking really good, best of luck with the rest of the build. Is it for the track or road or both?

Things have been coming on quite well. The engine is now plumbed and wired so tonight I'll be attempting to start it up and have the engine running!

I made an aluminuim dash which I am hoping to cover with flexible carbon fibre sheet. Most of the electrics are done (just need a tidy up) and the digidash is working. I was very impressed with it.
The next steps are clutch/brake lines, then mainly on the bodywork including fitting the fibreglass front, doors, arches and re-fitting the rear valence that was chopped off for the cage installation.

All good fun!!!

Yeah, at least it'll get to 35mph quick!
Will be using it for hillclimbs & sprints and maybe trackdays in UK mainland.

I have some constructive criticism for you, from experience of course.

1- Get some heat reflective shielding for your oil cooler lines. With the prolonged heat from the header even if it is wrapped (mine were wrapped twice) they will melt and start to leak at the worst of times.

2- Run the coil pack wires on the back side of the head. Again prolonged heat will cook them and they will become brittle.

Adam.

Hey looking good!
Get a picture with the nose on it!

You think you will be ready for May 4th Hillclimb or holding out for August Bank holiday?

I'm aiming to be on the roads by the end of June and make the August Hill Climb & september sprint.
Still loads to do and alot more to spend! I've got a f/g front end to fit yet (not painted), along with arches, bulkhead to make, and brakes.

Are you all painted now? You still aiming for May? I'm coming to Jersey for the National (spectator only)!!

Well, I'll nearly make my deadline to be on the roads for end of June. I'll probably be a few weeks late. Still got a load of panels to paint. As you can see it is multi-coloured at the moment!

Sparco seats and seatbelts arrived today.

Just arches, windows and paint to complete.
I drove it a few feet forward/reverse. Can't wait to take it out for my first real drive!

Good Work

I am tantalisingly close to getting mine on the road and can just imagine how your feeling, I too can not wait to give it a quick blat up the road.

Best of luck with getting it ready on time.

Andy
