im 17 with standard 998 but its on my mums insurance with 0 years no claims and it was insured about a week before i was 17 so it had to be her policy also got my dad on it norwich union just under £800 and is about 400 excess.

Thinking about it, is it legal to put a 1380 engine in a 99 Cooper? If its a carb engine and that was an MPI car would it fail an MOT?

You'll need to keep a CAT on it to have any hope of passing the emissions.
What are you doing about the wiring loom/ECU?
If you do find a way to put the 1380 in there, at 19, just passed my test I insured a 1425 for £2k. If your not prepared to pay that sort of premium then walk away now, as I doubt you'll find much cheaper.

Ouch thats expensive...oh well, pay rise this week apparently so, lol.
Damm its going to be easier to buy a difference car I think.
